Karimnagar: Delay Dogs 2BHK Scheme

Karimnagar: TRS government launched the 'Double bedroom housing scheme' across the State in 2015 under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, for providing a respectable life to the shelterless poor families who are unable to pay high rents in towns and cities and nourish their children properly. But, even after five years of launching of the 2BHK housing scheme, the constructions work of double bedroom houses in the united Karimnagar district is not going at a pace expected by the people.

The scheme had been launched wherein, government had fixed Rs 5.04 lakhs for the construction of each double bedroom house in rural areas and Rs 5.30 lakhs for urban areas.

In addition to that amount, the government had fixed Rs 25,000 for rural areas and Rs 74,000 for urban areas, for laying roads, construction of drainages, providing of electricity and pure drinking water facilities along with other basic requirements in the colony where the double bedroom houses are constructed.

Government had initially allotted 400 2BHK houses in each constituency and decided to take up the colonies in mandal headquarters in the rural areas and those under municipal limits in urban areas.

As government place was not available in the mandal headquarters and municipal limits in the four

districts, the contractors have not come forward to take up the tenders and start the construction work alleging that, with the amount that was sanctioned by the government it would not become possible to take up the construction works of double

bedroom houses in either the rural areas or the urban limits.

Due to lack of place for construction of 2bhk houses contractors not showing interest to take up tenders and those who already took the tenders are not taking initiation to start the work, the scheme has not come to light yet.

Apart from that, officials' negligence in distribution of the houses in some places where the constructions works has been completed are creating doubts among people about its perfect implementation in the four districts of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla.

The government sanctioned a total of 25,100 houses to the four districts, in two phases. First, during 2016-17 and second during 2017-18. Out of which Karimnagar district was sanctioned with 6,494 2BHK houses, Peddapalli district was allotted 3,390 houses, Jagtial district allotted the highest number with 8,430 houses and Rajanna Sircilla district was allotted with 6,786 houses.

After allotting the houses to the respective districts, tenders were invited for taking up the construction works of 17,340 2BHK houses from the contractors. Out of which, the contractors got tenders for about 4,907 houses in Karimnagar district, for 2,616 houses in Peddapalli district, 5,701 houses in Jagtial district and 4,116 houses in Rajanna Sircilla district.

But, the construction works of only 2,786 double bedroom houses in the four districts have been completed, out of which about 729 houses belong to Karimnagar district, 1,231 houses belong to Rajannna Sircilla district and about 752 houses were completed in Jagtial district with about 74 double houses construction being completed in Peddapalli district.

Even though, the construction works of around 2,786 2BHK's were completed, the officials have distributed only 471 houses to the beneficiaries till date in three districts of Karimnagar, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla districts.

In Karimnagar district, about 243 houses which were constructed in Chinnamulkanur of Chigurumamidi mandal, the village adopted by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, were distributed to the beneficiaries very recently. Whereas, around 200 double bedroom houses were distributed in Jagtial district while only 28 houses were distributed in Rajanna Sircilla district till date.
