Kavitha defeated due to ire of farmers: Congress Kisan cell
Hyderabad: Congress Kisan Cell national vice-chairman M Kodanda Reddy on Wednesday wondered whether it was right on the part of TRS leader K Kavitha to field Nizamabad farmers against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.
Addressing the media along with State Kisan Cell chairman Anvesh Reddy, he said the TRS has been finding fault with the Congress for allegedly fielding the farmers against Kavitha in Nizamabad Parliamentary constituency.
He said when the act of fielding farmers against Kavitha was wrong, then fielding them against Modi should also be considered wrong. He said the farmers had voted against Kavitha for her failure to address the issues of the farmers. He said the TRS government used the police against farmers when they demanded release of water from SRSP project. Even the farmers of Nizamabad were arrested when they sought minimum support price to Red Jowar.
Kodanda Reddy said no MLA or MP of TRS has responded to the phone calls of the Congress leaders on the issue of prices of the farm products. He ridiculed the comments of TRS working president K T Rama Rao that the Congress and BJP had colluded to defeat Kavitha in Nizamabad.
In the past five years the TRS government had targeted the farmers. The land records of 35 per cent of the farmers were not in proper shape. A woman had tried to commit suicide as her name was not found in the land records.
Anvesh Reddy said it was not proper on the part of the TRS to say that the persons who had filed nominations against Kavitha in Nizamabad were not farmers. He said though the farmers held agitations for two months, the TRS government did not respond. It had indulged in suppression of the movements and even sent farmers to prison.
