Polling for GHMC election ends, poor voter turnout recorded
Polling for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has concluded on a peaceful note at 6 pm except a some altercations between two party leaders at the polling centres.
Of the 149 divisions, only few divisions recorded 50 per cent voter turnout while a some divisions even failed to record 15 per cent voter turnout. RC Puram, Patancheru and Amberpet recorded highest polling percentage while Karwan and Malakpet were at lowest.
Covid scare is said to have one of the reasons for the poor voter turnout. However, the officials are yet to find out the reasons for the poor voter turnout.
The polling for ward 26 of Old Malakpet has been cancelled and repolling will be held on December 3. The counting of votes will take place on December 4.
