Sanitation worsens in Chanda Nagar
Chanda Nagar: The sanitation condition in Chanda Nagar division has worsened these days and mounds of garbage are seen every where on the main roads.
Since last ten days, garbage piled up at various colonies and main roads have not been cleared by the sanitation department, filling the surrounding areas with stench.
It is learnt that GHMC officials have suddenly stopped using 13 tractors which were used to transfer the garbage in the division.
The tractors were used to lift the garbage from the colonies and transfer it to the dumping yard in Madinaguda.
The GHMC took this decision as it came to their notice that tractors which are supposed be managed by women groups were being run by private individuals.
The GHMC currently has four tippers and the shifting of waste is being done using these tippers.
However, as one tipper was sent for repairs, only three are being used for transfer of garbage.
As a result, garbage got piled up in the colonies as the entire process of garbage transfer, which was earlier done with 13 tractors, is being done with only three tippers.
This led to piling of garbage at several places in the division.
When Hans India contacted Dr Ravi, GHMC official of Chanda Nagar circle, he said that tractors were removed as it was found that they were not properly maintained.
He assured that garbage would be cleared using more tippers.
He said that the decision was taken based on the instructions given by higher officials.
