TRS goes into introspection mode
Hyderabad: The emergence of BJP as the main opposition in the just-held GHMC elections has come as a major shock for the TRS. The pink party has started assessing the situation which led to this kind of result in the GHMC election and will soon work out what measures need to be taken to stop further surge of the saffron party in the state.
The party top leadership, including Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to study the polling pattern in each division and what made the BJP get so many seats. Was it the negative campaign or is there really anti-incumbency among the people? What is puzzling them is the way the results had come despite the government introducing several welfare schemes and taking up developmental activities.
The TRS had never lost any elections since it came to power after formation of Telangana state.
The Chief Minister, it is learnt, wants to delve deep into the way the welfare schemes were being implemented and to what extent they have reached the people particularly in the poll-bound areas. The Chief Minister is also trying to ascertain the impact of the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS). According to some leaders, LRS had played spoilsport for TRS.
The LRS had resulted in putting a burden of at least Rs 50,000 on every applicant to regularise their lands. In all, 25 lakh applications were submitted under the LRS scheme in the state and majority of them were filed in the GHMC limits and the poll-bound Warangal and Khammam Municipal Corporations which would go to polls soon.
The other important factors were - delay in issuing job notifications, mishandling of flood relief to the majority of the victims and delay in extending pension scheme to the people aged 57.
