TRS leader Swamy Goud joins BJP in Delhi

Hyderabad: In a big jolt to the ruling TRS, party senior leader and former State Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud on Wednesday switched loyalties to the BJP. Swamy Goud joined the saffron party in the presence of BJP national President JP Nadda in New Delhi.

Goud played a key role during the intensified Telangana movement by galvanising all employees unions in support of the TRS. He was given MLC and elected as Chairman of the council, recognising his services to the movement.

After demitting the office, he has been staying away from the party activities for over a year. He tried in vain to contest from Rajendranagar assembly constituency in 2018 assembly elections. He was not given opportunity to meet TRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao several times and also not invited to any party programmes in recent times. Leaders said that Goud is likely to get a prominent place in the BJP in the coming days. He is eyeing the next assembly elections, it is learnt.
