Two officials land in ACB dragnet

Tandur: The Deputy Engineer of RWS, Srinivas, was caught by ACB sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000, here on Tuesday. According to ACB DSP Suryanarayana, Guravaiah, a contractor completed pipeline works worth Rs 69 lakh under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme.

He made rounds to office for the payment of bills. He requested Srinivas and work Inspector Mahender several times. However, Srinivas demanded Rs 50, 000 as bribe to clear his bills. The contractor paid Rs 20, 000 fifteen days ago.

But the DE demanded remaining amount to process the bill. Guravaiah approached ACB, who caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 30, 000. They also took work inspector Mahender into custody and are investigating the case.
