Andhra Pradesh Assembly passes Panchayat Raj Amendment bill

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly Winter Sessions which resumed at 12 noon after the BAC meeting, several key bills were introduced in the House. The House approved the Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill while the opposition TDP members objected and demanded that the bill be reconsidered. Chief Minister YS Jagan intervened and gave an explanation. The CM said the bill had already been comprehensively debated in the Assembly and sent to the Legislative Council from here. He explained that the Panchayati Raj amendment bill was brought in an innovative manner. The bill was introduced out of concern for a change in the system.

The TDP members walked out from the legislative assembly in protest against the passage of the Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill without discussion. The TDP, which had given the adjournment resolution to discuss the agriculture sector, had walked out as issue was being discussed. Speaking on the same topic, Minister Kanna Babu commented that the TDP does not see any other farmers except the Amaravati farmers. He said that CM Jagan would fulfill every promise given to the farmers.

Earlier, the ordinance on the Panchayat Raj Ammendment Act was brought in by the Andhra Pradesh government few months back.
