BJP creating panic among Muslims with statements on NRC: Muslim JAC
Vijayawada: Muslim Joint Action Committee convener Shaik Muneer Ahmed has alleged the BJP-led Union government is implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to create problems to the Muslims in the country.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, the convener said the Central government can take the data prepared by the State government to issue citizenship to the people. He said the State governments conduct surveys to implement the welfare schemes and the same data can be used to register the names of the people in the National Register of Citizens.
The JAC convener alleged the BJP is implementing double standards on giving citizenship to the people. He said the BJP has announced that it would give citizenship to non-Muslims who came from neighbouring countries of Bangladesh, Pakistan or Nepal etc. He said the BJP government is insisting that the people should show evidences of before 1971 to get citizenship and questioned how the poor people could protect the evidences for so many years.
He said the BJP is creating panic among the Muslims and Dalits by giving statements on the NRC. He said Muslims maintained calm when Babri mosque case judgment was delivered recently. He has appealed to the Muslims to keep their evidences like Aadhar cards, PAN cards, bank passbook and ensure that the names should be same in all books and cards.
He appealed to the TDP and YSRCP to oppose the announcement of the Central government on conducting NRC with its own network instead of taking data collected and maintained by the State governments in the country.
