Vijayawada: Muslim JAC convener Shaik Muneer Ahmed hailed the passing of resolution by the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday for not implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) in the 2020 format in the State. The Andhra Pradesh assembly on Wednesday passed the resolution, which was introduced by Minister for Minority Affairs and Deputy Chief Minister Amjad Basha in the Assembly.

JAC leader Shaik Muneer Ahmed said the Muslims in the state had expressed apprehensions on some points mentioned in the National Population Register 2020 and demanded for removal of some points like showing the proof of the birth of the parents. Munner has welcomed the decision of the state government and thanked the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for passing a resolution in the Assembly. He recalled that the State cabinet had earlier announced that the NRC will not be implemented in the state and the government stuck to its promise.
