Chittoor: Former Minister and senior TDP leader N Amaranatha Reddy lambasted the YSRCP government for misusing official machinery to secure victory in the local body elections in an undemocratic manner.

He flayed the ruling party activists for preventing Opposition candidates from filing their nominations. He pointed out that the ruling party had declared unanimous election of YSRCP candidates in 30 ZPTCs out of 65 ZPTCs and 433 MPTCs out of 858 MPTCs in Chittoor district.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday, TDP supremo N Chandrababu had already submitted a detailed report on the irregularities committed by the YSRCP to the State Election Commission and sought fresh notification for the conduct of elections.

Stating that the TDP had made efforts to field candidates for all MPTCs and ZPTCs in the district, he came down heavily on the ruling for obstructing the TDP candidates and preventing them from filing nomination papers.

He wondered how the YSRCP could declare unanimous election of party candidates in 6 ZPTCs and 69 MPTCs in Punganur Asembly constituency represented by Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and 6 ZPTCS and 72 MPTCs represented in Thamballapalli constituency represented by his brother P Dwarakanath Reddy.

He alleged that the YSRCP leaders managed the district election and police officials and prevented the Opposition candidates from filing their nominations.

Same misuse of power has been witnessed in Chandragiri Assembly constituency where all the polls were declared unanimous , he charged .

The former Minister further demanded that immediate action should be initiated against Chittoor District Collector N B Gupta and SP Senthil Kumar by transferring them from the district as per the instructions of the State Election Commissioner.

He hoped that the Election Commission would issue fresh notification and conduct elections in a democratic manner.
