Collector flags off Poshan Abhiyan rally in Ongole

Ongole: District Collector Dr. Pola Bhaskara flagged off the rally on Poshan Abhiyan to create awareness on the holistic nutrition, by the women and child welfare department, from the collectorate to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the collector said that the government has taken necessary action to provide nutritious food to pregnant women and children. He said that as part of the Poshan Abhiyan in the district, a number of programs are scheduled for a month.

He said that awareness will be created in the public among 1000 days protection, control of anemia and diarrhea, nutritious food, hands wash, and other programs. He said that the government will provide holistic nutrition to the nursing mothers and infants to control mother and infants mortality rate.

He called upon the public to largely participate in the tree plantation programs as it is raining these days. The women and child welfare department PD Visalakshi, DPO Narayana Reddy, MEPMA PD Kriparao, NSS representative Tirumala Rao and others also participated in the program.
