Guntur: Power saving is power generation
Guntur: District collector I Samuel Anand Kumar stressed on the need to save power for future generations.
He participated in the Energy Conservation Week celebrations under the aegis of Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Limited here on Thursday. He flagged off the rally at collectorate.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that if society is developed, the power consumption will increase. He remembered that the government had already set up solar power plants to save natural resources and taken steps to supply quality power to the residences.
He remembered that the government had already giving solar agriculture pump sets and added that the government had already set up electrical transformers to solve low voltage problems. "If we save power, that is equal to power generation," he said.
He felt that if the consumers take steps to save power, they may reduce power consumption and power bills. He suggested when the consumers are not using TVs, washing machines, they may switch off them.
AP State Energy Conservation Mission chief executive officer K Chandrasekhar Reddy said that the state government was supplying power at reasonable price. He urged the consumers to use energy according to their requirement and added that it is responsibility of everyone to save power. He said that the state government had set up LED lights to save power and saving crores of rupees power bills every year.
Central Power Distribution Corporation Guntur district superintendent engineer M Vijaya Kumar said that to create awareness among the consumers, they are celebrating Energy Conservation Week. They took out a rally from Collectorate to Hindu College.
