MCT to construct multi-level parking facility in Tirupati soon
Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) will soon take up the long-pending proposal for construction of multi-level parking near Railway station, Corporation Commissioner PS Girisha said during his surprise inspection of various places in the city on Sunday.
Girisha inspected the vacant site near the Railway station where the corporation had proposed to provide multi-level park facility which was pending for long. Now, it is used for the parking of private taxis. The corporation had already obtained all clearances required for the modern parking facility, he said assuring that the proposed parking facility will be taken up soon.
``Lack of parking facility is a serious problem in the city and the evergrowing pilgrim rush adding more to the problem. The multi-level parking facility which can accommodate 120 four-wheelers and 120 two wheelers and it will be a permanent solution for parking problem,'' he said.
The taxi driver who are at the place said to the commissioner that they were facing lot of problems due to non-availability of adequate parking facility in the busy areas including railway station and bus stand and they were often fined by the traffic police for parking the vehicles on roadsides.
Earlier, the commissioner inspected Auto Nagar, Ambedkar Colony and Koramenugunta area. In Auto Nagar he saw plastic waste choked drain and expressed his ire over the officials of the Health Department for their laxity. In Ambedkar Colony the residents complained about the menace of stray dogs. Commissioner instructed Town Planning authorities to take action against the unauthorised building coming up in the colony.
Responding to the request of the residents of Koramenugunta area, Girisha directed the engineering authorities to prepare plan for desilting Koramenugunta tank in the area for storage of more water. He also wanted effective steps to end water problem in the locality.
