Monitor candidates expenses: Collector S Sathyanarayana

Kurnool: District Collector S Sathyanarayana directed the election officials in the district to monitor the day-to-day expenditure being incurred by the contesting candidates and they have to submit the details to the Returning Officer.

This task has to be done by the expenditure observers and liaison officers. He was directing the officials after participating at a training programme organised to expenditure observers and liaison officials at conference hall at Collector office here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the expenses being incurred by the candidates need to be monitored closely and the day to day information has to be submitted to the concerned Returning Officer after registering in Shadow Observation Register.

If any discrepancies are noted at the expenses bills and vouchers, then differences have to be recorded. Even the expenses of vehicles used for publicity, cost of furniture used at public meetings have to be registered in the Shadow Observation Register, suggested the Collector.

If the officials encounter any problem while calculating the election expenses, then they get it clarified with the Nodal Officer. Discharge the election duties with utmost responsibility giving no scope for negligence, Sathyanarana said.

Commissioner of Kurnool Municipal Corporation, P Prasanthi, Nodal Officer of Election Expenditure, Subba Rao, General Manager of District Industries Corporation, Soma Sekhar Reddy, Chief Planning Officer, Anand Naik and others were present.
