Ongole: Confine Koyambedu market returnees in isolation centres

Ongole: Prakasam District Collector Pola Bhaskara on Monday directed the officials to identify the persons who returned from the Koyambedu wholesale market in Chennai and shift them to isolation centres immediately. The Collector also asked the officials to step up surveillance at the containment zones as per the new guidelines. He was holding a video conference with the mandal-level and constituency-level officials.

He said there are about two lakh people in 15 containment zones in the district. He directed the officials to conduct a survey on their health conditions in the rural and urban areas. The officials should submit a report on the containment zones and surveillance as per the latest GO 43(B). He observed that private hospitals are charging exhorbitantly and ordered the officials to check it.

Bhaskara instructed the officials to immediately identify and shift the people who returned from the Koyambedu market to isolation centres and identify the primary contacts. The returnees should be allowed to go back to their native places only undergoing test and migrant workers, who return from other places, should be kept in quarantine for 14 days. He said that there is no chance to shift the migrant workers to their native places by a special train from Ongole. But he announced that they have shifted 976 migrant workers from Chimakurthy to Odisha by special buses on Sunday night.
