People told to curb pollution to remain healthy in Kakinada

Kakinada: Vamsi Chest and Children's Hospital head Dr TV Gopinath exhorted the people to prevent respiratory diseases by curbing pollution and keeping surroundings clean. He said that several diseases relating to the lungs were caused by inhaling polluted air and there was an urgent need to bring down the levels of pollution.

Speaking at the `Basic Education and Literacy Month' programme organised by Rotary Golden Jubilee Club in Kakinada on Saturday, Gopinath said that people could lead a healthy life through `Yoga' exercises daily.

He asked people against using mosquito repellent coils as they would cause respiratory problems. He advised the people to use `Room Purifiers' to overcome respiratory and other lung diseases.

He also said that cigarettes spoil health leading to lung infection and also causing life threatening diseases like cancer. He said that everyone should participate in the 'clean and green' programme and plant more saplings by a taking it is as a social responsibility.

The club president Dr Satish said that the club was taking up several programmes to enlighten the people on issue relating to health every month. The club past district governor Dr D Pusha, Tekumudi Suryanarayana Murthyi, Mootha Navin, M Visweswarra Rao and others were at present. Rotary Club former president Appasani Surya Kumar was felicitated on the occasion.
