Step up vigil on messages in social media: Kadapa Collector Ch Harikiran

Kadapa: District Collector Ch Harikiran on Sunday stressed the need for creating awareness among people on maintaining communal harmony in the district.

Chairing the District-level Communal Harmony Committee (DLCHC) meeting held here on Sunday, the collector said the district administration will step up vigil on the messages related to religious issues being spread over in social media to avoid untoward incidents at places of worship.

Describing Kadapa district as symbol of communal harmony, Harikiran said in view of recent incidents of vandalism, the state government has brought a special GO to avoid such untoward incidents. He directed the committee members to be vigilant over messages being spread over in social media provoking people and warned of initiating stern action against those who are responsible for such acts.

He also directed them to prepare list of temples, churches, mosques and CC cameras should be set up to trace out miscreants indulged in such acts.

Additional SP Khasim Saheb that 60 per cent of cops who were on night beat duty, recommended for enhancing vigil at places of worship in remote areas in the district. Assistant Commissioner of Endowments department Sankar Balaji has said that the district has 3,046 temples under the purview of department in the district. He said list of worship places related to all religions already sent to the government for setting up CC cameras. All religious priests were participated in the meeting.
