Guntur: YSRCP candidate for Guntur Parliament constituency Modugula Venugopala Reddy, asserting that he will mount pressure on the Centre for Special Category Status for the development of the State, recalled that when he was the MP, he opposed bifurcation of the state in Parliament and protested against it. It may be recalled that he was Narasaraopet MP during 2009 to 2014 and was MLA from Guntur East from 2014 to 2019. In an interview with The Hans India, he stated that he will take steps to develop the state capital Amaravati. He added that he will set up municipal corporation in the capital area and develop the core capital area.
At present the CRDA is developing the state capital Amaravati, he said and felt that there is need to construct a central railway station at Amaravati, airstrip for landing mini-aircraft and Central Bus Station.
He recalled that Karnataka state government had provided land free of cost for building the new railway line and similarly he will mount pressure on the state government to provide land free of cost for the railway line to Amaravati, if he is elected to Parliament.
