2nd state-level meet of AIFDW commences

Bagh Lingampally: Two-day state-level meeting of All India Federation of Democratic Women (AIFDW) started at Omkar Bhavan here on Wednesday. National co-convener of the federation started the meeting by hoisting the flag.

Speaking on the occasion, state secretary of MCPI(U) Thandra Kumar hoped that the meeting which is being held on the centre of left its movements in the state would inspire women and give them a direction for its future struggles against injustice.

He said that the current governments both at centre and state were adopting anti-woman policies, apart from suppressing farmers and general public. He alleged that governments have failed miserably in providing protection to women.

Kumar criticised political parties for not providing equal opportunities to women and deceiving them with their false promises of woman empowerment. He said MCPI(U) would extend its support women in empowering themselves and in their fight against atrocities on women. He hoped that the meeting would help the federation in defining their future goals.

The meeting was presided over by V Saidamma, K Sandhya and P Bhagyamma. AIFDW state general secretary Kumbham Sukanya, T Kalavathi, G Lavanya, P Vimala, M Rani, T Pushpa, Jayalakshmi, K Radhakka, Jyothi, Jhansi, Geeta, Sultana and others participated in the meeting.
