Blatant violation of MRP norms at Jubilee Bus Station
Secunderabad Cantonment: Passengers at the Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) are allegedly being looted by the traders at the TSRTC stalls. The traders are collecting higher rates than maximum retail price (MRP) for commodities sold there. The passengers are also subjected to gross overcharging at the vehicle parking stands.
Some passengers complain that they are being overcharged due to lack of official supervision at the bus station. They opined that the officials were letting off the exploiters by levying only nominal fines.
The passengers in their hurry to catch buses shell out amounts as demanded by stall owners. Each food item is being charged Rs 5 to Rs 10 above the MRP. An additional amount is being collected on water bottles. When questioned, the stall owners are said to make counter-charges against passengers.
At the three parking areas, too, on the bus stand premises, contractors are fleecing the public. Although officials have installed a time machine to redress public grievances, it has proved to be ineffective as the contractors are allegedly avoiding its use and issuing receipts of parking from cell phones.
In some cases, higher amounts are allegedly being collected without issuing receipts. An additional Rs 20 each is being charged for each helmet left with the parked vehicle.
