JBS-MGBS stretch will be ready by Nov: Metro

Hyderabad: If everything goes according to plan, people of surrounding areas of Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) can travel in metro train from JBS to Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) in the month of November this year. After the launch of much-awaited Ameerpet-Hi-Tec City metro route in the month of March, HMRL is now focusing on completing of JBS to MGBS corridor by November-end.

A 15-km stretch will run between JBS and Faluknuma, which is known as Corridor 2 and greenline metro route. In the greenline stretch, HMRL plans to complete the works in two phases. In the first phase, they are working to complete 10-km route between JBS and MGBS by the year-end. The second phase of work 5-km stretch from MGBS to Falaknuma will be taken up soon after completion of the first phase.

Works pertaining to overhead cabling, electrical and signaling are going on at a brisk pace in all the stations and civil works have been completed on this route and remaining small works in all the stations are expected to complete by the end of the November, HMRL officials said.

NVS Reddy, Managing Director, HMRL says, "Works are in advanced stage of completion and it will be completed by November this year." This stretch from JBS to MGBS includes JBS, Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, Gandhi Hospital, Musheerabad, RTC Cross Roads, Chikkadpally, Narayanguda, Sultan Bazar and MGBS and two interchange stations on this route are Parade Ground and MGBS.

Remaining six stations from MGBS to Falaknuma stretch on the Old City route work will be taken up after the completion of the stretch between JBS and MGBS, said officials.

The route will provide better connectivity from JBS and Secunderabad stations to MGBS and make travelling easy for long-distance commuters. People from surrounding areas of JBS will easily reach Secunderabad railway station and MGBS to travel to various places from the city railway station and bus station in less time compared to the time taken by the road in slow moving traffic in peak hours.

Around 2 lakh passengers are using the metro with the launch of services on the Ameerpet-Hitech city route every day and HMRL is expecting a similar footfall on the JBS-MGBS corridor once the route is ready for the public.
