Collector MV Reddy allays fears of farmers
Medchal: District Collector MV Reddy held a meeting with farmers of Ponnala village of Shameerpetmandal at the Collectorate here on Wednesday to discuss the issue of land acquisition for constructing the Keshavapur reservoir.
Addressing the farmers, the Collector said that the government was forced to acquire the land from farmers and suitable compensation would be given to them. To meet the drinking water needs of the city, it has become essential to build Keshavapuram reservoir and given the inevitable circumstances, the government has decided to acquire 105.9 acres of land from farmers as per legal norms, he added.
Collector Reddy said that compensation would be given taking into considerations the interests of farmers and he would take appropriate steps and ensure that justice was done to them. He said he would work for proposing a compensation of Rs 70 lakh per acre to farmers and they readily gave their consent. Joint Collector D Srinivas Reddy, Medchal RDO Lachi Reddy, farmers of Ponnala village and others participated in the meeting.
