Osmania Medical College to organise global meet on December 7-8

Afzalgunj: A two-day 'Global Meet – 2019' will be organized by the Osmania Medical College Alumni Association (OMCAA) on December 7 and 8, where doctors from across the globe are expected to attend.

According to organisers, the meet will be an opportunity for Osmanians to participate and celebrate together making it a memorable event. The programme, which will be held in Koti campus, will include academic and scientific sessions, gold medal presentations to UG, PG, and super specialties, felicitations to 1981 batch, sports events, fine arts and trade exhibitions, along with grand gala cultural programmes with banquet.

"This event is oraganised once in every three years, so that the Alumni spread out across different countries can meet each other and share their experiences. We are hoping that maximum number of alumni takes part in the event. Besides lectures and cultural programmes, those who are performing their services for more than 25 years will also be felicitated," said Dr Iqbal Javeed, the convener for Fine Arts Exhibition Committee.

Javeed further said that an air-conditioned Dr C Govind Rao Seminar Hall with a capacity of 150 seats is available for academic purposes on the second Floor of Jubilee Guest House and is set for regular CME and other academic activities of Osmania Medical College and allied Institutions. "Each year, we organize the get-together, but this Global level event is organized only once in every three years," he added.

Alumni contributions

A programme to present gold medals to meritorious students of Osmania Medical College was introduced in 2010, with an intention of encouraging competitive spirit among the students. The gold medals, 26 in number as on date, have been sponsored by some of the alumni of Osmania Medical College. E-Library, functioning besides the library in the college building, with 32 personal computers, has been started with the contribution from OMC old students association.
