Hyderabad: GHMC has decided to curb the dumping of construction debris on roads, drains and ponds by imposing heavy fines and by filing cases on the violators in Greater Hyderabad. The city Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has taken the decision, as part of the steps taken in review of the building waste disposal in the city.

The mayor said that there are nearly 2,000 private vehicles to transport the construction waste in the city, i.e., at least 500 metric tonnes of waste is being thrown on roads every day. The construction of building waste re-cycling plants is already in progress and many places have been selected for the establishment of such recycling plants for the purpose of depositing the structural wastes.
