Kapra: At a time when the government is planning to close 4,000 government schools in the state, the situation at schools in Kapra mandal is quite different. There are four government schools and all of them have enough students.

Zilla Parishad High School in Balaji Nagar has 650 students, Zilla Parishad High School in Jawahar Nagar has 830 students and Zilla Parishad High School in Cherlapalli has over 250 students.

While many government schools are struggling to survive and many are being clubbed for the want of students, the schools in Kapra are performing quite well. "There are four government schools in Kapra mandal and each has strength of above 200," says M Anjaneyulu, president, Telangana State Union of Teacher's Federation (TSUTF).

There are 850 students in Zilla Parishad High School in Kapra, of which, 480 are girls. The age group of the students is between 10 and 16 years.

"The use of technology in private schools is growing with the installation of digital boards and government schools too are not lagging behind," says Ram, a teacher.

"There is one digital board in our school. We need at least five digital boards. We also have capable staff of 30. We need 4 to 5 additional classrooms," said Anjaneyulu.

Lakshmi, a class VII student of Zilla Parishad High School in Kapra, said, "We have very good teachers who also help us after our school hours. I am glad to have good teachers, as I cannot afford to go to tuition."
