New Delhi: Delhi Police have clarified that they have not yet tracked down the gun wielding man in a mob during riots, seen in many videos, identified as Shahrukh. Video of Shahrukh pointing a gun at a policeman at Maujpur on Sunday, had gone viral. He allegedly fired eight rounds in the riot affected-area.

North East areas of Delhi had witnessed multiple incidents of violence beginning Sunday afternoon, for three days, claiming 37 lives and leaving more than 200 injured. Police sources have told media outlets that 21 of the dead succumbed to gunshot wounds.

Delhi police have formed two Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to probe the violence. They have also registered 48 first information reports FIR and arrested over 524 people, according to media reports.

Delhi Police have now eased Section 144 for ten hours in the Northeastern parts of the national capital. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has been monitoring the situation personally and had visited several riot-hit areas to reassure the citizens there of their safety and security. Special Commissioner (Law and Order) SN Srivastava also reviewed the situation several times in the day and visited the violence-torn parts of North East Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suspended its Corporator, Tahir Hussain from the party after Delhi Police filed an FIR against him for his alleged involvement in abduction and murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer, Ankit Sharma. By suspending him, AAP has taken the high moral ground, and this inevitably puts pressure on the BJP to act against Kapil Mishra. The BJP leader has been accused by his political opponents of making incendiary speeches.
