Antarvedi Festival from Wednesday

Narsapuram: Sub-Collector Sumit Kumar Gandhi has directed various departmental heads to take up steps to conduct Antarvedi Festival in East Godavari district which will be held from January 24 to February 1. He directed the officials to provide all necessary arrangements for the visiting pilgrims for the festival.

The Sub-Collector presided over the review meeting on the Antarvedi Festival arrangements held in Sub-Collector’s office on Friday. Antarvedi, famous pilgrim centre at the confluence of River Vasistha and Bay of Bengal was in East Godavari district. The pilgrims visit Narsapuram to go to Antarvedi during the week-long festival.

Speaking at the meeting, the Sub-Collector observed that pilgrims not only from the State but also from neighbouring states would participate in the festival. Following the rush of the pilgrims, the officials should take up steps in a planned manner, he directed. 

He asked the municipal officials to take up the sanitation work at Madhavayapalem Ferry point. Besides, he directed police officials to deploy additional personnel at the ferry point. He also directed officials to keep ready expert swimmers and health services.

He informed that Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam of Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Swamy would be held on January 27. The Rathotsavam of Lord Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Swamy would be conducted on January 28. The holy bath on the occasion of full moon on January 31 and February 1 would be taken up by the pilgrims. In view of the heavy crowd during these days, the officials should make arrangements round-the-clock at the Narasapuram Railway Station, Bus Stand and Madhavayapalem ferry point.

He directed police officials to divert the two-wheelers, light-weight vehicles towards Chinnamamidipalli and the Godavari canal routes during the festival days.  He directed RTC officials to run special services during the festival. Antarvedi temple Assistant Commissioner M Lakshmi Narayana, Narsapuram Circle Inspector M Subba Rao, Municipal Commissioner S Venkata Ramana, Deputy DMHO Padmajarani, Tahsildar G Suryanarayana Reddy, Fisheries officer A Durga Yedukondalu and others participated in the meeting.
