Siddha administers polio drops to children

Ongole: Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Siddha Raghavarao has said that parents should see their children are administered with the polio drops compulsorily.

He inaugurated the Pulse Polio programme on Sunday by giving the two life saving drops to a baby at the Mukhyamantri Arogyakendram at Venkateswara Colony in Ongole on Sunday.
The minister said that the Pulse Polio was a good programme that saves the lives of children and asked the parents of children below five years of age to see their children gets the vaccine without fail. 

He said that the district administration had estimated that there were 3.54 lakh children below five years of age in the district and opened 2,402 polio drops centers for them by appointing 10,543 officials to make the programme a success. He said that special arrangements were made for the families traveling on Sunday so that their children get vaccine at bus stations and railway stations.

The district medical and health officer Dr S Rajyalakshmi said that about 5 lakh units were made available for use in the district. The district observer, Vijayalakshmi, district immunisation officer Dr Nirmala and other staff from the medical and health department also participated in the programme.
