Two more Anna Canteens to be opened in Ongole

Ongole: Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Siddha Raghavarao announced that two more Anna Canteens will be opened in the town soon.

He inaugurated the Anna Canteen at Old RIMS complex opposite the district Collectorate on Thursday.

Speaking after the inauguration, the Minister said that the government was providing food to the poor at a daily bill of just Rs 15. He said that the Chief Minister was trying to build a society sans poverty and provided the opportunity to the poor to have a meal with just Rs 5. 

The poor were calling the Chief Minister as a god for providing best food at the canteens, he added. He said that they sanctioned 4 Anna Canteens in Ongole up to now. But due to the increased demand, they were going to establish two more in the town.

Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao said that due to the increased demand from the people, the government had decided to establish Anna Canteens at the RIMS Hospital and Ongole Dairy too and they would be opened soon.
