MLA promises boatyard restoration

Kakinada: MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao made it clear that the government would take measures to restore the old boatyard at Jagannadhapuram. He visited the boatyard area with the officials of the Municipal Corporation and the Fisheries department on Wednesday evening.

Speaking on this occasion, the MLA said that in earlier days the fishermen made their wooden boats here in this boatyard. But in recent years, the boat owners had been manufacturing their boats outside of this yard.

He informed that as part of the smart city development, this boatyard would also be restored for the benefit of the fishermen in and around the Kakinada city.The MLA said that he would visit the boatyard again with the district Collector Kartikeya Mishra soon to construct the dilapidated sheds and other structures at the yard.

The corporation Additional Commissioner, Satyaveni, SE Vijaya Kumar, EE Rama Mohan Rao, DEE Satyanarayana, AE Naga Satish, Fisheries In-charge JD Jaya Rao and others participated.
