Call to protect Heritage

 Vijayawada: A Heritage Walk from Moghalrajapuram Nataraja Caves to Bapu Museum was held here on Wednesday, to mark World Heritage Day. Participating as chief guest, SAAP chairman Ankamma Chowdary called upon people to protect the heritage for the future generations.

Chowdary said Andhra Pradesh has many important heritage places. The upcoming capital Amaravati has many such heritage structures.

Archeology department Deputy Director N Mallikarjuna Rao explained the importance of the Bapu Museum. He said that the role of the museum was significant at the time freedom struggle. Pingali Venkaiah, the designer of the national flag handed over his design to the Congress in the museum.

ALC History lecturer Dr Movva Srinivasa Reddy said the Trimurty, Nataraja, Durga caves at Moghlrajapuram belong to the 5th century AD.Later, the Heritage walkers visited Kondapalli Khilla. 

R Phalguna Rao,  Assistant Director, Bapu Museum, Technical Assistants, S Satyavati, Deepak Jo, SJJRB Baba and other staff were present.
