The officials explained about the status of ongoing road development works on the Chennai – Kolkata National Highway over a stretch of 1025 kilometres. Naidu suggested to officials that the flyover at Benz Circle should be developed on the lines of P V Narasimha Rao Expressway in Hyderabad.

Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to repair the damaged stretch of road between Vijayawada and Rajamahendravaram.  He observed that the passengers who were travelling on the road were facing inconvenience,  thanks to damaged road.

When the National Highway authority officials explained that this damaged stretch would be repaired by April end, the Chief Minister directed the officials at the CM’s office to monitor the progress time to time.

Vijayawada-Gundagolanu and Gundagolanu-Rajamahendravaram parts of the damaged stretch of the road should be completed in two phases, the Chief Minister suggested.

The Nellore-Tada stretch of the road must be converted into a six-line road, Naidu told the officials. He explained that as the traffic increased on this stretch because of the Sri City, Krishnapatnam Port, Special Economic Zone and other industrial activities, the road became congested and it needed expansion.

The officials explained that the Vijayawada– Machilipatnam National Highway works have been completed up to 38 percent and they will be executed as per the schedule. They said that the Nandigama-Kanchikacharla bypass road works will begin in February.

The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) for connecting Vykuntamala road to Naidupet, Chittoor, Madanapalli and other areas in Rayalaseema, by the next meeting. He also suggested to prepare another report for a separate straight road from Krishnapatnam to Tirupati via Satyavedu.

Project report for construction of Visakhapatnam-Rayapur road will be prepared by October, officials informed Naidu. Under the road, only 70 kilometres from Salur to Vizianagaram stretch is in AP and the rest of the road is in Chhattisgarh, officials explained. The Chief Minister asked the officials to ground the project as early as possible.
