AP State gets 47.89 cr in red sanders sales

Amaravati: State government got a revenue of Rs 47.89 crore through auctioning 124.8 metric tonnes of Red Sanders in Tirupati on Thursday. The Minister for Forest and Environment Sciences SiddaRaghavaraohas said here in a press release that each tonne of red sanders was  sold at Rs 38.38 lakh, in the auction. This was the second phase sale in the series in the tenth round of auction.

The government placed about 678 metric tonnes of red sanders in the tenth round of auction, he informed. The Minister further explained that a total of Rs 83.88 crore earned in the two rounds of auction in this tenth series including on April 24 and 26.

The government put a total of around 1,368 tonnes of Red Sanders for auction in the tenth series, which would be in three phases. He hoped that government will gain more revenue in the third face auction also.
