Industries, ports usher development

Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana has said the industries and ports will play significant role in development of the region and the government had taken adequate measures to improve economy of the state expanding these sectors.

Addressing a job mela meant for Kapu students in the city on Sunday, the Minister said overall development of the state takes another 10-15 years and it requires Rs 5 lakh crore for developing Amaravati on par with Hyderabad.

He said Singapore and Japan are small countries that depend on ports for supporting industrial growth.He also said the per capital income level of good economy will depends on local development and added the number of industrial units will provide avenues to the local jobless.

The minister said basic infrastructure would be essential for growth of industrial sector.He said the per capita income at the time of bifurcation was at Rs 1.07 lakh in Andhra Pradesh which was Rs. 1.50-1.65 lakh in other states. He suggested to the candidates who attended for job mela to be hard working and optimistic towards development of the state.

He appreciated efforts of 53 companies for organising the mela.Additional Joint Collector V Venkata Subba Reddy said Rs 12 lakh was being supported to the Kapu students for education in abroad and others were being provided skill development training for 3 months for their livelihood sources and they would be paid Rs 5,000 as stipend.
