Speed up land takeover for canal works: Minister

Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy asked the district administration to finish land acquisition for Degapudi-Bandepalli canal works. He conducted a review meeting with District Collector R Mutyala Raju and other officials at R&B Guest House here on Tuesday on issues related to land acquisition, progress in dotted lands and conversion of CJFS lands.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the then Collector C Arjun Rao had allotted 99,637 acres to the people during 1975-80. 36,000 families belong to SC community; 12,600 ST families and 15,500 BC families were amongst them, he said.

Around 65,000 people are having these CJFS lands and they would be abolished shortly, he added. With the decision of the state government, the beneficiary would own Rs 7-8 crore worth lands, who enjoy them in future, Somireddy said. 

He said many registrations have stalled in the district due to problem of dotted lands and they would be given pattas if the people are able to provide proof of possession. There are around Rs 10,000 crore worth pattas are waiting for the registrations due to dotted land issue, said the Minister. He also asked to resolve objections under 22-A if necessary.

Joint Collector K Vetri Selvi, DRO Venkata Subbaiah, Nellore RDO D Haritha, Kavali RDO A Bhaktavatsala Reddy, Atmakur RDO Bapaiah, Naidupet RDO Seena Naik, Joint Director of Agriculture Chandra Naik and others were present.
