Congress to go it alone in 2019 polls: Raghuveera

Rajamahendravaram: APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said the Congress will contest on its own in 2019 Assembly and general elections.

Speaking to reporters at a private hotel here on Saturday, Raghuveera said the Congress will not have tie-up with those parties, which sails with the BJP.

“Congress will contest in all 175 Assembly constituencies and 25 Parliamentary constituencies in the state,” he said. He said TDP should make its stand clear on BJP as a wife of BJP minister of Maharashtra was appointed as TTD trust board member. Nirmala Sitaraman was continuing as Union Defence Minister and her husband Parakala Prabhakar was working as an advisor of state government, he pointed out.

AP and Telangana Chief Ministers, N Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao, YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy and BJP state president Kanna Lakshmi Narayana have cheated the Congress. Responding to a question on Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan's hunger strike on Uddanam issue, he said Congress will always extend support to public issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi diluting all constitutional bodies in the country and showing disrespect to democracy, he said. 

Stating that the image of India was tarnished in the world because of Modi, he said the Congress strength was increasing day-by-day and NDA alliance partners were deserting it one by one. Rajya Sabha member JD Seelam, DCC president Pantham Nanaji, party leaders Raja and G Rudra Raju were present.
