Thunderstorms likely across AP today

Hyderabad: The upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra coast now lies over the northern parts of west-central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood between 3.1 and 4.5 km above the mean sea level. 

A low pressure area is very likely to develop over the north Bay around June 8. The north-south trough at 1.5 km above the mean sea level from the cyclonic circulation over south-west UP to west-central Bay off south Andhra coast has been less marked.

As a result, on June 6 thunderstorms with gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated  places in all coastal and Rayalaseema districts. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts.

On Tuesday, rain occurred at isolated places across the state, with Gummagatta, Brahmasamudram, both in Anantapur district and Mandapalle (Chittoor) recording 5 cm each.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the state were: Amarapuram (Anantapur), Palasamudram (Chittoor), Tirumalla (Chittoor), Penu Konda (Anantapur), Salur (Vizianagaram) 4 each, Jupadu Bungalow (Kurnool), Hindupur (Anantapur), Punganur (Chittoor) , Amadagur, Rayadurg (both in  Anantapur), Garividi, Srungavarapukota (both in Vizianagaram) 3 each.There was 2 cm each in Prathipadu (East Godavari), Araku Valley (Vishakhapatnam), Chinnamandem (Kadapa).
