Women told to become Financially Independent

Kurnool: Nannapaneni Rajakumari, Chairperson of the AP State Women Commission, gave a call to women to fight against the evils of the society while following traditions and cultures. 

She participated in an awareness programme ‘Mahila Bhadrata–Manandari Badhyata’ conducted at Sunaina Auditorium here on Saturday. Addressing the participants of the programme, 

Rajakumari has expressed anguish over lack of safety for women in the present day society.
 
She exhorted women to become mentally and physically strong and strive for economic security. 

The women panel chief encouraged women to adopt according to the circumstances instead of feeling insecure.

Rajakumari asked why women are being discriminated when they are competing equally on par with men in all fields. She expressed concern over the adverse impact of television serials on women. 

“I would recommend to the Central Board of Film Certification to initiate stringent action against the serials if they telecast provocative incidents,” she warned. 

Rajakumari said that change has to come from within then only transformation is possible in the society. She appreciated the efforts of ‘She Team’ for curbing flesh trade and other illegal activities. 

Rajya Sabha member, TG Venkatesh, MLC KE Prabhakar, MLA SV Mohan Reddy, SP Gopinath Jetty and other officials and women in large number were present. 

Later, the Chairperson inaugurated a short film on safe and unsafe touch.
