Andhra Pradesh Kabaddi Association sacks Krishna dist secretary Srikanth
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Kabaddi Association (APKA) secretary V Veeralankaiah said on Sunday that it was a heart-breaking situation when he and his family heard about the baseless allegations made by the women kabaddi players against him.
He convened a press conference in view of the allegations levelled against him by Krishna district Kabaddi association secretary Y Srikanth and some women kabaddi players. It may be recalled the state and district associations are at loggerheads.
Recently, the state association had scrapped the district association. However, the district secretary Srikanth had rejected the decision of the state association. Addressing the media here on Sunday, Veeralankaiah said that the false allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him by women kabaddi players had pushed the whole family into depression.
He said that they wanted to commit suicide, but controlled themselves. Former minister and President of APKA, KE Prabhakar announced that the state association removed Yalamanchali Srikanth as Krishna District secretary.
He said that a 7-member ad-hoc committee was appointed for Krishna district. He said all the allegations made against Veeralankaiah were false and baseless. He recalled that National Beach Kabaddi Meet at Suryalanka beach at Guntur was the clear example of Veeralankaiah’s commitment towards Kabaddi.
He displayed an apology letter written by Srikanth to the media on Sunday. He further said that Srikanth had given money to a few Kabaddi players to make baseless and false allegations against Veeralankaiah. He said that a case will be filed on the false allegations.
