Commissioner J Nivas inspects Urmila Nagar in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Commissioner J Nivas, conducted a field-level inspection of Urmila Subbarao Nagar main road, Reddy colony, Kabela road, Ramu Quarry and other places on Tuesday.

The commissioner along with other corporation officials observed the garbage collection activity and interacted with the residents of the colony.

The commissioner informed the residents to separate the dry and wet household waste and hand over to the sanitary worker. 

He said that apart from segregating wet and dry waste, they should give waste rice separately to the sanitary worker. 

He said that the sanitary worker should carry four bins on the trolley and carry black covers.

He said that obstruction on the side canals should be cleared for the free flow of the drain water.

Later, the commissioner visited the compost plant at Urmila Nagar. The locals complained to the commissioner that foul smell was emanating from the plant. 

The commissioner ordered the concerned staff observe the garbage in the plant and take appropriate measures and cover the plant with tarpaulin.

The commissioner visited Kaleswararao road underground drainage work. 

The workers told the commissioner that due to rain, the work was stopped temporarily. 

He observed the drain pipeline till Sitarampuram drainage pumping station and gave a few suggestions to the officials.
