IPPB will help in making digital India a reality: MP CM Ramesh

Tirupati: The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) was made possible only due to the credibility of all postal department employees at all cadres, observed the Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra Vinay Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe. 

Speaking at the launching ceremony of IPPB in Tirupati on Saturday, the MP recalled the services of postmen in every nook and corner of the country and called upon them as dedicated and committed workers. 

“In so far as taking progress to people is concerned and translating the dream of all of us and that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi into reality of a developed India, I believe IPPB is going to deliver the democracy of digitisation to all the people,” he remarked.

MP CM Ramesh said that they will represent to the government to keep the rate of interest on savings accounts more as against four per cent which was already announced, to compete with commercial banks. 

Also, he felt the need to increase the ceiling limit on deposits from its present Rs 1 lakh and said that the IPPB will become a boon to people especially from rural India. 

Ramesh lauded the postal department by saying that it was the only department always available in rural areas and away from corruption. 

Because of various other developments, the popularity of postal department has witnessed a negative trend, but it will bounce back in regaining its lost glory through various initiatives among which IPPB is one, he opined. 

MLA M Suguna hoped that IPPB will play a crucial role in making rural India as a digital India and said that the department was known for its trustworthiness. 

She said that IPPB will bring revolutionary changes in the banking sector by going to door step of people. 

MLC Y Sreenivasulu Reddy said postal department is one of the key sector in terms of national security and plays a crucial role in protecting and preserving the internal security matters on par with defence department.

In the changing circumstances, there is a need for enhancing the number of Head Post Offices (HPOs) in the district and requested the MPs to take initiative to strengthen the department. 

He appealed to the authorities to fill up all vacancies in the department.

On the occasion, the two MPs have released the special cover on the financial inclusion and distributed the QR cards to account holders after formally launching Tirupati IPPB branch. 

Branch manager TK Suneel Kumar welcomed the gathering while Superintendent of Post Offices, Tirupati Division, G Sreenivasa Murthy proposed vote of thanks.
