Leaders get training in Advocacy on Gender Equality in Ongole

Ongole: The HELP NGO, Girls Advocacy Alliance and the Child Line held a training programme for youth group leaders in ‘Advocacy on Gender Equality’ at LBG Bhavan here on Sunday.

The girls from Kanigiri, M Priyanka and D Mary Suneetha, who were trained on youth advocacy as part of the training of trainers programme held in Hyderabad, participated in the programme as resource persons and trained the other adolescent girls on gender equality and gender discrimination and the violence based on it. 

They discussed the reasons for the gender discrimination, its effect on girls and how they should fight it with the help of group discussions, plays and role play. 

The girls prepared an action plan to train the village-level members and organize awareness programmes for them and publicize the gender equality through wall writings and submitting representations to the officers and other programmes.

The HELP coordinator Ramesh, programme officer NVS Murthy, Child Line coordinator P Mantru Naik, team members M Murali Krishna, Sulochana and others also participated in the programme.
