Minister Siddha Raghavarao participates in Jalasiriki Harati at Gundlakamma Project
Ongole: Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Siddha Raghavarao participated in the Jalasiriki Harati programme and offered special prayers to the rivers, at Gundlakamma Project Reservoir on Friday.
Speaking after the prayers, the minister said that water was the lifeline for all living things.
He advised the people to pray to the rivers, which bring water to save the mankind, as goddesses and love the Mother Nature to improve the living standards.
He said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to develop the state as a drought-free state and would connect the rivers in the state to make it as a rice bowl again.
He said that the government was taking up Vanam Manam, Neeru Chettu and other environment-friendly programmes in the state and requested the people to actively participate in them.
He invited the people to celebrate Jalasiriki Harati programme as a festival and he asked them to make it a tradition to pray to the nature.
Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand, MLC Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy, former Santanuthalapadu MLA Vijay Kumar and others also participated in the programme.
