Govt encouraging sports in state: Minister Siddha Raghavarao
Ongole: Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Siddha Raghavarao announced that the government is encouraging sports in the state.
He inaugurated the state kyorugi and interdistrict taekwondo championship in RISE Krishna Sai Engineering College and said that the national games will be held in the state soon.
The minister lit the lamp inaugurating the 39th Andhra Pradesh State Sub-Junior and 37th Andhra Pradesh State Junior Kyorugi and Interdistrict Taekwondo Championship- 2018. He said that sports help everyone to become mentally and physically strong.
He said that the state government was encouraging sports and will conduct national games in Amaravati soon. He said that in order to encourage athletes in the state, the government had allotted Rs 3 crore to each constituency to construct mini stadium.
He said that the government was providing 2 percent reservation in government jobs to encourage the athletes. He wished all players to become international players so that they too win recognition like PV Sindhu, Gopichand and others.
The AP Olympic Association chairman Punnaiah Chowdary, secretary Achyuta Reddy, MLC Karanam Balaram, RISE Krishna Sai Engineering College secretary Siddha Hanumantha Rao and others also participated in the programme.
