Actress Ramya Sri hailed for philanthropic work

Vijayawada: Noted actress Ramya Sri has been accorded with an honorary doctorate by the National Deemed University at a function here on Wednesday for her multifarious roles as an actor, director, producer and her service to poor, the aged and orphans.

Ramya Sri has also been presented with Amaravati National Excellency award by Philanthropic Society under the aegis of the USA-based Global Creative Arts Academy.

Ramya Sri has been helping various sections of people including the physically-challenged persons through her own Hrudayalaya Foundation for the last several years. She has been organising hundreds of medical camps and awareness camps on cancer, diabetes and hyper tension.

So far, she enacted in 350 films in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Odisha, Bhojpuri and Punjabi. She bagged two special jury Nandi awards as best director and best heroine from the State government for the movie ‘O Malli’ which was produced and directed by her.

She also bagged the national award as the best actress for her role in Kannada movie ‘Aryabhatta’. She is also the recipient of Mother Theresa award for her social service activities. 

Thanking to the felicitation and the honorary doctorate, Ramya Sri said that she was happy that she received such recognition not only as an actor but also for social service activities.
