Visakhapatnam: With less rainfall registered in the district, the district in-charge minister N Chinarajappa convened a review meeting to take measures to ensure a hassle-free drinking water supply in the coming summer season.

Responding on the shortage of water reserves, GVMC Commissioner M Harinarayanan said that the city would face 25 MGD water shortage from Tatipudi and Raiwada reservoirs.

However, the waters being pumped from the Purushottampatnam Lift Irrigation, would solve the problem to some extent. The in-charge minister directed the officials to start dredging operations in Raiwada and Tatipudi reservoirs.

The MLAs also demanded, in the meeting, to handover the maintenance of Meghadrigedda and Gambheeram reservoirs from Irrigation department to GVMC.
