Additional subsidy for farmers cultivating horticulture crops

Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana advised farmers to form Farmer Producers Organisations (FPOs) and raised horticulture crops. He participated as a chief guest for a discussion forum convened at Horticulture Bhavan in Chanakyapuri Colony here on Wednesday. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the State government is giving big boost to horticulture crops. The government will provide additional subsidy if the farmers cultivate horticulture crops after forming FPOs, he stated. He informed farmers that they can reap more profits with drip irrigation and exhorted FPOs to create awareness among farmers about marketing, grading and packing. 

The Collector directed agriculture officials and scientists to encourage farmers to go for alternative crops. He advised the farmers to make use of available resources besides availing the facilities of advanced machinery being provided on subsidy by the State government. Deputy Director of Horticulture Srinivasulu, ATMA Project Director Uma Maheshwaramma, representatives of FPOs and farmers were present.
