Advocates intensify stir for High Court Bench

Tirupati: The agitation for the High Court (HC) Bench in temple city launched by Tirupati advocates and other bar associations of Rayalaseema districts, snowballing into a political issue. 

Speaking at the all-party meeting organised by Tirupati Bar Association on Court Complex here on Friday, BJP official spokesperson Samanchi Srivinas stated that AP BJP unit gave a representation to the Union law minister urging him to set up HC Bench in Tirupati instead of Kurnool.

He said that law minister responded positively for their representation. Since, the permanent High Court building is yet to be constructed it is better now itself to set up the principal seat of the High Court in Tirupati, he strongly demanded.

Congress leader P Naveen Kumar Reddy appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to prove his integrity and honesty by setting up a HC Bench in Tirupati as a thanksgiving to native place. He reminded that the Sribagh Pact which mandates HC and State capital should be at different places and the reason behind the HC set up at Guntur honouring Sribagh Pact.

Naveen Kumar gave a Clarion call to all party leaders to set aside party agendas and to join hands together for the noble cause of setting up of the HC Bench in Tirupati. “No other town in AP is very well connected by air, road, rail and apart from availability of well-developed infrastructure in Tirupati which is selected for smart city project will be very suitable to set up the HC Bench in Tirupati.

Jana Sena leaders also extended their party’s full support to advocates for setting up the HC Bench in Tirupati. JSP leaders assured that they are ready to bring their party chief Pawan Kalyan to Tirupati to strengthen the movement.

Tirupati Bar Association president S Vasu Devaraju, general secretary Bhavani Shankar, advocates of Tirupati Bar Association took part in the meeting. Advocates Pathikonda Murali, K Rajesh, A Pratap, B Narahari, Srinivas Reddy, V Srinivasulu, Sudarshan and others took part in the meeting.
