Actor Sumanth said that his role in the upcoming supernatural thriller  ‘Subramnayapuram’  would be completely different from the various roles that he played till now. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Sunday, he said that when Santhosh Jagarlapudi came to him and narrated the story, he liked it immensely. I was touched by the storyline and liked it in all aspects, he added.

Sumanth said that after his last film ‘Malli Ravva,’ he thought that he would be flooded with offers to do romantic films. But  instead, he was offered gripping supernatural thrillers, he quipped.  Talking about ‘Subramanyapuram,’ Sumanth said that he played the role of an atheist in the film who does not have any faith in God but takes up research studies on temples.   He said that Esha Rebba, the female lead in the film, believes in God and was more traditionally inclined unlike him and keeps confronting him.

When asked why his films do not become blockbusters, Sumanth said that he does not take into consideration the commercial aspects before agreeing to do a film, but just goes by a good script. He said that Rana Daggupati’s voice makeover was another highlight of the film and he also shared a word of praise for other technicians like R K Pratap, Sekhar Chandra and producer Biram Sudhakar Reddy for giving him full support. Speaking about his role in the film ‘N.T.R’, Sumanth said that he was extremely proud to essay the role of his legendary grandfather A Nageswara Rao (ANR). However, he said that he did not imitate ANR and portrayed the role in his own style. It was a great experience working with Balakrishna, he added.
